Best crystals for healing and energy

When it comes to wellbeing, I have an arsenal of modalities, tinctures and disciplines that help keep me balanced and aligned. On days marked by disruption or inner unrest, one of my simplest and most trusted supports is working with crystals – selecting stones that align with my intended outcomes for resilience, grounding and energetic fortification.

Crystals have been used for thousands of years for protection and spiritual connection. Ancient civilisations revered them for their healing properties and divine significance. Today, they remain embraced in wellness practices and meditation.

When I choose a crystal or stone, I always ensure it’s properly cleansed and charged. This clears any accumulated stagnant or negative energy and restores the crystal to its natural, high-vibrational state. Simple cleansing methods include placing crystals in direct full moonlight or washing non-porous stones in salted water: Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Agate, Jasper and Carnelian are all well-suited to this.

Passing crystals through sage smoke is another effective ritual, as is resting them on or near selenite – a powerful, high-frequency stone known for cleansing, purifying and recharging other crystals and jewellery. Items like this gorgeous Selenite Crystal Bowl act as a beautiful and functional vessel for ongoing energetic care.

The best all-arounder and healing crystal is Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is a stone of pure amplification: like light moving through glass, it sharpens intention and clears energetic static. Its presence feels cleansing and expansive, restoring balance across mind, body and spirit as gently as a deep exhale.

Aligned with the crown, Clear Quartz lifts awareness like a window opening, dissolving mental fog and reconnecting us to higher insight. On a physical level, it’s often used as a quiet harmoniser, supporting vitality and focus.

When I need motivation, I turn to Carnelian

Carnelian carries the warmth of embers and fresh blood: earthy, alive and quietly fierce. It’s a stone of momentum and vitality, reigniting energy when it feels scattered or low. Grounding yet invigorating, Carnelian stabilises the body while gently urging it forward, like a steady drumbeat beneath your steps.

This stone strengthens courage and self-trust, dissolving hesitation and apathy as sunlight melts morning frost. Often used to support physical vitality and mental resilience, Carnelian fuels forward motion  – an ideal companion for growth.

I recently acquired this Carnelian during a particularly challenging period of my life, giving me comfort and strength. It’s great value, too! (This is an affiliate link)

When I’m filled with self-doubt, Citrine comes to my aid

Citrine feels like bottled sunshine. Warm, steady, and quietly uplifting, it’s a stone I reach for when energy feels flat or heavy. Its presence helps clear out stagnation and bring a sense of lightness back into the body and mind, like the first warm day after a long stretch of grey.

It’s often used to support confidence and self-expression, especially when doubt starts to creep in. Citrine also carries a naturally harmonious energy, softening interactions and helping things flow a little more easily between people. As an energetic cleanser, it gently brightens the aura and encourages optimism, reminding us to meet life with openness and trust rather than force.

When I need to go the distance, I partner with Red Jasper for Staminer

Red Jasper is a stone I turn to when I need to come back into my body. Heavy, steady, and deeply grounding, it carries a calm, supportive energy that helps settle scattered nerves and restore a sense of inner stability. It’s often called the stone of endurance, and that feels right – it doesn’t rush or push, it simply holds you steady while you keep going.

Strongly connected to the root, Red Jasper supports physical vitality, stamina  and focus, especially during long, demanding days or periods of recovery. Its energy is quietly reassuring, like solid ground under your feet, easing overwhelm and stress while encouraging follow-through.

When I need a confidence boost, Tiger’s Eye is by my side

Tiger’s Eye carries a steady, watchful energy. It’s protective, grounding and quietly strengthening. It’s a stone I work with when I need to feel anchored in my power and less shaken by external noise. Its energy sits firmly in the solar plexus, reinforcing confidence and a sense of inner security.

Tiger’s Eye works beautifully alongside other stones, especially those that support abundance, grounding, or focus. Paired with Citrine or Pyrite, its energy becomes more expansive and purposeful, supporting confidence around work and direction.

This is my ultimate crystal. I rarely go without it, which being attached to a pendant, makes it easy to do. I’ve added this to a long chain so it’s closer to my solar plexis chakra.
